Arisa MikumoTeam Lead, Re:Earth

Arisa is a practitioner working at the intersection of open-source geospatial technology, education, and social implementation. As a core member of the Re:Earth project, she has been involved in designing an open geospatial platform that enables students, local governments, and communities to create, visualize, and share spatial data without requiring specialized GIS expertise. Her work spans a wide range of real-world contexts, including projects with local governments and educational programs in Japan, as well as international collaborations such as refugee mapping workshops with UNHCR in India. Through close dialogue with stakeholders on the ground, she focuses on translating diverse needs and constraints into practical, achievable solutions using open geospatial technologies.

Dr. Qiusheng Wu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography & Sustainability at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is also an Amazon Scholar. Dr. Wu’s research focuses on advancing open-source geospatial analytics through cloud computing and GeoAI. He is the creator and maintainer of several widely used open-source Python packages, including Geemap, Leafmap, SAMGeo, and GeoAI, which integrate cloud-based geospatial platforms with AI-powered analysis and visualization. Dr. Wu’s work bridges remote sensing, Earth observation, and artificial intelligence to make large-scale geospatial data more accessible, reproducible, and intelligent for researchers, educators, and practitioners worldwide. Anita Graser is a senior scientist and thematic coordinator in the Data Science & Artificial Intelligence research group at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna. Her research background is in geoinformatics and spatial data science with a focus on mobility applications. She is an open-source advocate, serves on the QGIS project steering committee and teaches Python for QGIS at Unigis Salzburg. She is the lead developer of MovingPandas (a Python library for analyzing movement data) and has developed tools such as the Time Manager plugin for QGIS. She has received multiple awards, including the international OSGeo Sol Katz award for her contributions to open-source geographic information systems. Anita has published several books about QGIS, including “Learning QGIS” and “QGIS Map Design” and writes a popular spatial data science blog at https://anitagraser.com.
